A PPST must have July 16, 2009 Matthew Fitch (New England) 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
O.K. first of all get the official ETS book just because it has a few important things that this book legally could not print, but then buy this book. It's the best book out of all of them because it has clearer reviews of the material that is on the test. For example in the math section;remember no calculator can be used; so it goes over how to do very specifically all the problems that one will have probably become used to doing on a calculator. This book more than the rest prepares you for what is on the test. It's written very cleverly as well. It's the superior book bottom line.
great practice January 18, 2010 LinMS (Okinawa, Japan) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book must be the best out there. Has plenty of practice questions and practice full tests. Very good math review especially. Helped me get a good score! Explains all the types of questions, and even has subject reviews so you can re-learn this information if need be. Then, has a helpful strategy section.
Very thorough for the PPST August 1, 2010 I passed with a good score! I have not taken a math class in some twenty years and I teach first grade--but the PPST tests math up through the first year or two for high school--the makings of a train-wreck for me! I found this book to be very thorough, and its many review questions and practice tests mirrored what I saw on the PPST, which I passed yesterday by a comfortable margin on the first try. I recommend buying this book along with the ETS book with its actual questions and hard-to-understand review. I also bought Barron's PPST review and found their math section and problems to be very helpful, too, in spite of the five or six problems that were incorrectly analyzed in their practice tests. I bought all three books used, studied for an hour or two each day for two months, and was very happy with how I did. The only thing I skimmed, and that I wish I had reviewed more, were the multiplication/last number tables, common square root results, and common exponents. Figuring these calculations out took some time on the real test.
I moved right through the test with very little need to go back and review answers, and, in most cases, found a sensible answer on my first try on each problem. I had planned for yesterday's test to be just a "see what it's like and then come back next month" ordeal--but, by question ten, I knew I "got" the test and my concern became how high a score I could get. Good luck with the PPST--this book and the ETS book are well worth it.

Very informative with examples given for every thing needed to be learned.
I am taking the praxis soon and anticipate a good grade with this study guide.
Great for the Praxis I, Lousy for the Praxis II March 14, 2009 James Willsey (Burbank, CA) 19 out of 21 found this review helpful
I'm trying to find a book that actually teaches you the material you'll need to know for the Praxis II (specifically test #0014), instead of just giving you a practice test and letting you know which things you should study in some other book. Unfortunately, this book is in the latter category when it comes to the Praxis II. But for the Praxis I (the PPST) it has WONDERFUL review material that actually teaches you EVERYTHING you need to know. So if you want to study for the Praxis I, this book is worth the price, but if you want to study for the Praxis II, find another book. And let me know which one you find!
