Great Prep. January 19, 2004 Graeme Crews (Charleston, SC United States) 34 out of 36 found this review helpful
This book was definitely a much better help than the Official National Geographic Study Guide. It included tons and tons of questions (some of them, however, are easy) and terms and a general overview of every state in the U.S. and pretty much every country in the world. I is a great book to study for the Geography Bee, as I am. I would say that this is 10 times better than the "Official" one. I would buy this even if you aren't preparing for the Geography Bee. If you are on an academic team, BUY THIS. It definitely helped my team. A great prep for social studies in general not just geography. In conclusion, if you are thinking about buying this book over the "Official" one, BUY THIS ONE!
The Geography Book We've Been Waiting For! February 27, 2003 23 out of 24 found this review helpful
This book is exactly what I needed several years ago, when my son was studying for the State Geography Bee. It is so helpful to have so many questions (with answers!), in such a user-friendly format. The study tips are useful, too. Having compared this book to the one published by the National Geographic Society, this one has a lot more study questions and preparation tips. This is the book I'm now recommending to anyone interested in the Geography Bee. I'll be using it with my daughter!

This book is really great compared to the National Geographic version. My child was in the state level geography bee. This really helped him. It includes terms, tons of questions, and facts about what seems like everywhere in the world. If your deciding between this and the National geographic version buy this one. It has lots more information and questions.
Great help for Geographic Bee December 17, 2003 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
We found this book a great help in our son's preparation for the National Geographic Bee. This book gives a great start to understanding the basics of geography. We only got through part of the book before the school's bee. Next year my son will have completed the book, and the other book of Matt's, "The Handy Geography Answer Book". The combination of these two books will definately increase your childs knowledge of the world. Matt gives some tips on how to do well in the bee, but most of the empahsis is on learing the material. There is no simple way to study for the bee. His advice on narrowing the answers was very helpful. We spent some time on learing the "superlatives". My son did not get any of those questions during the bee, but the knowledge of knowing the tallest, longest, biggest etc... is invaluable.
A Must Have Car Book November 9, 2006 James H. Peters (Kansas City) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
What a great book to take along in the car on a trip. Good questions for adults to ask each other while driving long distance and something for the kids to enjoy also.
Good, short questions about the world that you probably knew most of the answers to but forgot. Skip the fast food drive-thru, get the book.
The Geography Bee book is a better buy.
